Wilsonville Pregnancy Chiropractic Care

You might wonder whether it’s safe to engage in chiropractic care during your pregnancy. The simple answer is yes! In fact, you are at higher risk of injury during your drive to our office than you are during treatment. Numerous studies have confirmed that chiropractic is not just safe but beneficial to pregnant women.

Providing Benefits for Mom and Baby

We like to joke with our expectant mothers that you’re receiving a “2-for-1 special” when you receive chiropractic care during pregnancy. But it’s no joke that both you and your baby benefit greatly from the care you receive. Your nervous system controls every function of your body. During pregnancy, it’s working for your baby as well. All of the changes taking place in your body have to be coordinated with expert precision to ensure healthy development of your child.

Here are some of the most common benefits:

  • Decreased pain in labor
  • Reduced time in labor
  • Greater emotional stability
  • Improved sleep
  • Less intervention during the birthing process
  • Lower incidence of breech
  • Reduced nausea or morning sickness
  • Diminished pain and swelling
  • Enhanced overall sense of well-being

Your baby benefits as well. Routine chiropractic care during pregnancy can decrease intrauterine constraint and ease your child’s transition into life. The better start the baby has, the less work we’ll have to do after delivery to ensure your infant’s good health. And, if you’ve been seen throughout your pregnancy, your newborn’s first visit is free!

Keeping Your Comfort in Mind

The frequency of your visits will depend on how early in your pregnancy you seek treatment and how close to your due date you are.

We are trained in both Gonstead and Webster Techniques, though we rely more heavily on Gonstead because it is specific, gentle and consistently effective. We will always do whatever we can to make you as comfortable as possible. We have adjusted late term and overdue women with the help of special tables and modified adjustment techniques.

If you are pregnant, you will not have X-rays taken. Instead, we will take a full history and conduct a thorough exam, including the use of the nerve scan. More than likely, you will be adjusted on your first visit.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you might have. Your comfort is important to us. We are honored to be involved in creating a healthy start for your baby!
