COVID-19 AKA Coronavirus – Info and Recommendations

According to the CDC, infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can cause illness ranging from mild to severe symptoms, and in some cases, can be fatal. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, however some cases can be asymptomatic (no symptoms at all). Symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure.
The virus is thought to spread from person-to-person, including:

  • People in close contact
  • Through respiratory droplets from an infected person coughing or sneezing
  • It is less likely that a person can get the SARS-CoV-2 from touching an inanimate object and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes, but not ruled out

How do you protect yourself from COVID-19?

1. Wash your hands!

Soap and water is best. If soap and water is not immediately available, alcohol-based hand-sanitizers (containing at least 60% alcohol) is second best.

2. Practice respiratory etiquette

Cover your mouth when you cough and/or sneeze.

3. Maintain regular housekeeping practices

Routine cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, equipment, and other elements in your environment. Use EPA-approved disinfectants with claims against emerging viral pathogens. Bleach and Vinegar (NOT together!!) are also effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

4. Keep your immune system strong!

  • Eat clean and fresh food (i.e. veggies, organic meats, low sugar intake)
  • Get 8 hours of sleep
  • Exercise / stretch at least 3-4 days/week (unless you’re feeling tired)
  • Supplement your diet to make sure your immune system is strong.

5. Keep calm, and carry on!

Don’t stress! Stress depletes your immune system. If you are exercising all of the above precautionary measures, you are protecting yourself and your family to the best of your ability. EVEN IF you or a loved one does succumb to the virus – rest, following proper flu protocols and the advice of your Doctor(s) will more than likely lead you back to normal health status.
